Ornette Coleman–THE SHAPE OF JAZZ TO COME

In her NPR article “Ornette Coleman: Decades of Jazz on the Edge” Ashley Kahn calls saxophonist and composer Ornette Coleman’s sound “one of the most unorthodox–and influential–in modern jazz.” His albums The Shape of Jazz to Come (1959) and Change of the Century (1960) “occasioned worldwide controversy [and] revealed Coleman performing in a style freed from most of the conventions of modern jazz.” Here is the full album of The Shape of Jazz to Come.
